Questionnaire survey of Chinese patients with palmoplantar keratoderma

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics, concomitant diseases and the cognition level of the Chinese patients with palmoplantar keratoderma. Methods: The survey was conducted among the patients all over the country through a web-based questionnaire. Results: The issuance and recovery of questionnaires were 361 and the valid questionnaires were 346. Of 346 patients, 154 (44.51%) patients had family history, and the type of diffuse palmoplantar keratoderma was in 150 patients (43.35%), dryness sensation in 287 (82.95%), the severity changing with season in 258 (74.57%), and hyperhidrosis as the accompanying disease in 157 (45.38%). Of 346 patients, 293 (84.68%) suffered from different degrees of psychological burden and 300 (86.71%) tended to choose external drugs for treatment. Conclusion: The type of lesions is generalized and the main subjective symptom is dryness. The severity susceptible to season in majority of the patients. Many patients have psychological burden and prefer to choose external drugs for treatment.
