Survival status of ex-leprosy patients in Taizhou City

Abstract: Objective: To understand the living conditions of ex-leprosy patients living in the communities in Taizhou City. Methods: A questionnaire was used to conduct a survey. The data was analyzed with Epidata. Results: Two thousand, four hundred and twenty-eight  ex-leprosy patients were investigated, including 1,722 males and 706 females. The average age was 73.13 years old. 50.66% of the cases had different kindsof disabilities, and 20% enjoyed the basic allowance or the rural five-guarantee benefits from local governments. 22.41% of the people affected by leprosy lived alone and 6.38% cannot took care of themselves. Conclusion: The ex-leprosy patients in Taizhou are aging and living a hard life. They need more social care and security.
