Clinical analysis of 43 cases of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans treated with wide local excision

Abstract: The clinic data of 43 patients (18 males and 25 females) with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance (DFSP) was analyzed retrospectively. Of the 43 patients, 2 had a family tumor history, 5 had a history of injury, and 35 had no obvious predisposing cause. The lesions were manifested as tumor in 40 patients, patch in 1, epidermal atrophy in 1 and cicatricial hyperplasia in 1. Biopsy showed typical DFSP in 40 patients, atrophic type in 2 and mucus type in one. The removal range of the lesions were extend for 2-4 cm in 39 patients, Out of these patients, 28 were followed-up and one was recurrent. The removal range of the lesions were extend for less than 2 cm in 3 patients, among them one was recurrent and two were lost to follow-up. One patient with more than 4 cm removal range was lost to follow up.
