Abstract: Objective: To compare the efficacy and adverse reactions of 595 nm pulsed dye laser (PDL) in the treatment of superficial hemangiomas (SH) on the face and limbs of infants. Methods: The clinical data of infants with SH treated with 595 nm PDL in our department from December 2017 to January 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients, with hemangioma were divided into face group and  limbs group according to the lesion locaton. Evaluation of the efficacy was completed collectively by the guardians, and senior dermatologists who did not participate in the treatment by comparing the change of the lesion in the photos before and after treatment. The clinical response to treatment was classified as cure, significant improvement, improvement and no improvement, when there was a greater than 90%, 60%-89%, 30%-59%, <30% reduction in the coloration and hemangioma size respectively. Results: Totally, 91 patients with hemangioma were involved in the study while 43 patients were in the face group and 48 patients were in the limbs group. The cure rates were 53.5% and 72.9% in face group and limbs group respectively with significant differences (P<0.05). The improvement rates were 86% and 100% respectively in face group and limbs group with significant differences (P<0.05). The rates of adverse effect were 23.3% and 16.7% in face group and limbs group respectively, with no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: 595 nm PDL in the treatment of superficial hemangioma on limbs is more effective than on face, with no significant difference of the adverse reaction in the two groups.
