Severe alopecia areata in mother and daughter: two cases report

Abstract: The first patient was a 7-year-old girl who lost all her hair for more than 6 months.  Her mother was a 33-year-old female who suffered from diffuse alopecia for more than 2 months. Broken hairs, exclamation mark hairs, black dots and short vellus hairs could be seen under the trichoscopy in both patients. The daughter's condition improved after treated with total glucosides of paeony, compound glycyrrhizin, Hippophae rhamnoides granules, Liuwei Dihuang granules, topical of minoxidil tincture, halcinonide solution and halomethasone cream in 16 months. The mother's condition improved cured after treated with total glucosides of paeony, Huolisu oral liquid, methylprednisolone, topical of Shengfa tincture, halcinonide solution and halomethasone cream in 9 months.
