Superior vena cava syndrome caused by carcinoma misdiagnosed as vascular edema: a case report

Abstract: A 55-year-old male patient presented with facial redness and swelling for 2 months. In our outpatient department, the diagnosis of vasular edema was made and the patient treated with anti-allergy and symptomatic treatment, but the condition did not improve significantly. After admission, the enhanced CT of lung was examined, and the tumor with superior vena cava syndrome was considered, then the patient transferred to the cancer hospital and the diagnosis of  small cell lung cancer was made. After the first chemotherapy, the facial swelling gradually subsided.
