Mycobacterium marinum infection:a case report

Abstract: A 73-year-old female presented with skin eruptions on her right upper limb for 3 months. She has a history of being stabbed by seafish. Dermatological examination showed several hemispherical red papules and nodules, ranging in diameter from 0.3 to 1.5 cm, along lymphatics on her right upper limb. Histopathology revealed acanthosis and a mixed inflammatory cells infiltrated mainly by neutrophils and several multinucleated giant cells in the dermis. T-SPOT test was positive. Mycobacterium marinum was identified by Metagenomic sequencing. The diagnosis of Mycobacterium marinum infection was made. The skin lesions subsided after one month treatment of rifapentini and clarithromycin.
