Clinical analysis of 12 cases with facial tinea incognito in adults

Abstract: The clinical data of 12 patients with tinea incognito in our department from January 2013 to June 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Of 12 patients, 10 were male and 2 were female, aged from 34 to 73 years old, with an average age of 60.5 years. The course of disease ranged from 6 to 42 months, with an average of 16.2 months. All patients had a treatment history of glucocorticoid ointment. Of 12 patients, skin lesions manifested as eczema-like in 6, psoriasis-like in 3, seborrheic dermatitis-like in 2, rosacea-like in 1. Direct microscopic examination of fungi was positive in all cases. The fungal culture was performed in 7 cases, Trichophyton mentagrophytes was identified in 4 and 1 case was Trichophyllum rubra was identified in 1. All 12 cases were complicated with tinea pedis and 2 cases were complicated with tinea femoris.
