Abstract: Cicatricial alopecia is a group of disorders in which hair follicles are replaced by connective tissue, classified as the primary or the secondary. The disease of primary cicatricial alopecia is insidious and relapsed. Early treatment focuses on controlling the primary disease and surgical repair should be considered when the condition is stable in the late stage. Long-term follow-up and drug maintenance treatment are required after surgery. Secondary cicatricial alopecia is mostly secondary to burns and surgery, and when it is stable, surgical treatment should be considered. The update of hair transplantation in the treatment of cicatricial alopecia is reviewed in this paper.
