Talaromyces marneffei infection in a HIV antibody-negative patient: a case report

Abstract: Talaromyces marneffei infection is a rare deep fungal disease and an opportunistic pathogen, mainly infects immunocompromised individuals such as those with HIV positive. We report a case of HIV antibody-negative patient with general erythema and crust, diffuse bald scalp. The patient was diagnosed with Talaromyces marneffei infection by skin biopsy, fungal culture, and next-generation sequencing technology. Antifungal treatment was administered, and the skin lesions of the patient gradually subsided. There was no recurrence during the 3-month follow-up.
