Assessment of targeted UVB in the treatment of childhood vitiligo

Abstract: Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of targeted UVB in the treatment of childhood vitiligo. Methods:Fifty lesions in 40 children with vitiligo were treated with targeted UVB (DualightTM UV 120-2 targeted phototherapy system), 1~2 times per week and the efficacy was assessed after 6-month treatment. Results:The total effective rate and cure rate were 62% and 26%, respectively. The effective rates of head and face, trunk, limbs and acral areas were 81.8%, 83.3%, 37.5% and 0, respectively. There was no obvious adverse in all patients. Conclusion:Targeted UVB is safe and effective in the treatment of vitiligo in children and the therapeutic effect relates to the location of lesions.
