Correlation of factitial urticaria and depression/anxiety

Abstract: Objective: To determine the correlation of factitial urticaria and depression and anxiety. Methods: Depression or anxiety was measured and compared with Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) in 100 patients with artificial urticaria, 100 patients with verruca vulgaris and 100 patients with healthy control group. Results: Both the scores and the rate of depression or anxietyin the factitial urticarial group were significantly higher than the those in other two groups (P<0.001,0.005).Conclusion: Depression or anxiety may be involved in the onset of factitial urticaria.
