Abstract:

Objective: To determine the phagocytosis and deactivation of macrophages to Candida albicansin in AIDS patients. Methods: The monocytes from AIDS patients and healthy controls were isolated, and then, were induced to macrophages in vitro. Phagocytosis and activity of macrophages to Candida albicans was detected by fluorescence microscope and flow cytometry and eactivation activity was detected by CFU counting. The level of NO was assessed according to the content of nitrite inside macrophages. The level of phosphorylated spleen tyrosine kinase was measured by Western blot. Results: The phagocytosis and deactivation of macrophages to Candida albicansin and the levels of NO and phosphorylated spleen tyrosine kinase in AIDS patients were lower than those in healthy controls. Conclusion: The phagocytosis and deactivation of macrophages to Candida albicansin in AIDS patients were inhibited
