Abstract:

Objective: To assess the efficacy of hydrochloric 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) with stick light source in the treatment of intra anal-rectal warts. Methods: Forty-six male patients with intra anal-rectal warts were treated with ALA-PDT (stick light source), once a week for 4 weeks. Results: The warts body was completely removed in 35 cases (76.1%). There was no infection, ulcer, scar and hemorrhoids. Five patients recurred after 12 weeks of follow-up with a recurrence rate of 14.3%. The score of pain visual analogue scale (VAS) was 6.96±1.41 points. Conclusion: ALA-PDT with stick light source in the treatment of intra anal-rectal warts had good effect, moderate pain low recurrence rate and less adverse reactions
