Abstract: Objective: To assess the efficacy of electrocauterization combined 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy and interferon injection in the treatment of cervical condyloma acuminatum (CA). Methods: Two hundred and forty patients with cervical CA were divided into 4 groups randomly. All the patients were treated with electrocauterization to remove the lesions and those were given additional 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy immediately once a week and interferon injection, 3 times a week for 4 weeks in group A, 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy in the group B, interferon injection in the group C. All the patients were followed up for 3 months after the last treatment. Results: One hundred and eithty-nine patients completed the treatment and follow-ups. The cure rates were 96.08%, 83.67%, 81.25% and 53.66% and the clearance of HPV were 74.51%, 53.06%, 50.00% and 12.20% in the group A, B, C and D, respectively. Conclusion: Electrocauterization combined 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy and interferon injection is effective in the treatment of cervical CA.
