Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fractional CO2 laser and 1550nm Er glass laser in the treatment of the patients with striae distensae. Methods: The patients with striae distensae were collected. The striae distensae on the left abdomen was treated with 10600nm CO2 fractional laser and that on the right site was treated with 1550nm Er glass fractional laser, once two months for 3 times. All the patients were followed up for 3 months. Results: A total of 25 patients completed the treatment and two patients were lost for follow-up. The improvement of 51%-71% was achieved on the right abdomen in 84% patients, on the left site in 48% patients, with a significant difference (P<0.05). There was also a difference in self-satisfaction (P<0.05) in favorite of right site (80%?versus 68%,P<0.05). Hyperpigmentation was seen in 20% of the patients assessed on the left abdomen and only in 8% on the right abdomen. During the treatment, average score of the pain on the right abdomen was 5.41±2.13, which was higher than that on the left (4.19±2.12), with a significant difference (P<0.001). No permanent hypopigmentation was found on the both sides. Conclusion: 1550nm Er glass fractional laser is more effective than fractional CO2 laser in the treatment for striae distensae.
