Detection of genital Chlamydia trachomatis infection in 11584 STD clinic attendees in Shantou

Abstract: Objective: To detect genital Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis) infection among 11584 STD attendees from 2011 to 2017 in Shantou. Methods: The data of the patients with genital C. trachomatis was analyzed retrospectively. Results: The positivity rate of C. trachomatis in 11,584 cases was 12.78%. The positivity rates were 14.86% and 9.73% in 6886 males and 4698 females respectively, with a significant difference of P<0.05. The positivity rate was the highest in the patients aged at ≤19 years (28.29%) and was the lowest in the patients aged at ≥60 years (9.16%). Of 1480 positive patients, 991 (66.96%) patients were free from symptom. Conclusions: C. trachomatis infection is high and the most infected is free from symptom.
