Analysis of the clinical features and bacterial strains in patients with tinea capitis in a provincial skin hospital

Abstract: Objective: To analyze the clinical features and bacterial strains in the patients with tinea capitis in our hospital. Methods: The data of the patients from June 2014 to May 2017 was analyzed retrospectively. Results: Thirty five cases with tine capitis were collected. Of 35 patients, 25 cases (71.4%) were kerion, 5 (14.3%) were tinea alba and 5 (14.3%) were black-dotted ringworm. The fungus culture was positive in 28 patients, including 10 samples of T.mentagrophytes complex, 7 of T.tonsurans, 4 of M.gypseum, 3 of M.canis, 2 of T.rubrum and 2 of T.violaceum. Conclusion: The common type of tinea capitis is kerion in and the main age was from 0 to 10 in this group of the patients. The most common pathogen of tinea capitis is T.mentagrophytes complex.
