Abstract: Objective: To determine the correlation between the levels of serum vitamin D and IgE with the clinical severity of atopic dermatitis (AD) in children. Methods: The clinical severity of AD was evaluated with the SCORAD score. The levels of serum 25- hydroxide vitamin D3 and total IgE were detected in AD patients and 55 control subjects. Results: The level of vitamin D in AD group was 16.13±6.68ng/mL, which was lower than that in the control group (19.81±8.24 ng/mL), with a significant difference(P<0.05). According to the SCORAD score, the patients with AD were divided into three groups: mild group (33 cases), moderate group (20 cases) and severe group (7 cases). The level of vitamin D in mild group was 18.69±7.01ng/mL, which was higher than that in the moderate group (12.81±4.35ng/mL), with a significant difference (P<0.05). There was a significant negative correlation between the level of vitamin D and the SCORAD score (P<0.05). There was no significant correlation between vitamin D and SCORAD score (P>0.05). Conclusion: Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level is negatively correlated with the severity of AD.
