Mycobacterium chelonae facial infections following injection of botulinum toxin:a case report and literatures review

Abstract: Iatrogenic Mycobacterium chelonae infection is associated with surgical wounds, organ transplantation, dialysis and injection. In this article we report a case of mycobacteria infection caused by cosmetic injection, confirmed by pathology, culture and PCR sequencing.The isolated strains were identified by phenotype, molecular identification. Drug susceptibility test was performed on isolated strains in vitro. The patient was cured by clarithromycin and amikacin. Related literatures were reviewed.
