Generalized annular granuloma in a child successfully treated with hydroxychloroquine combined with topical steroid: a case report and literature review

Abstract: A case of Generalized annular granuloma in a child successfully treated with hydroxychloroquine combined with topical steroid was reported and relevant literature was reviewed. An eight years old boy presented with generalized annular plaques on the trunk and extremities for 2 months. Histopathological examination showed mild hyperplasia of epidermis, epithelioid granuloma in dermis, with degeneration and necrosis of central collagen fibers, infiltration of tissue cells and lymphocytes around granuloma, proliferation of collagen fibers, infiltration of mononuclear cells between collagen. The diagnosis of generalized annular granuloma was made. After oral administration of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablet 0.1 g/d and topical compound clobetasol propionate ointment for one month, the lesions were significantly improved.
