Rule of Propionibacteria acnes biofilm model in vitro

Abstract: Objective: To construct the Propionibacteria acnes (P. acnes) biofilm model and to study the regularity of the construction of P. acnes biofilm model. Methods: The P. acnes biofilm was constructed in vitro. The structure, thickness and vitality were dynamically detected at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 15 and 20 day by laser confocal microscopy (CLSM) and XTT reduction assay. Results: P. acnes experienced the process of biofilm formation, dissemination and re-formation within 20 days. The thickness and vitality  reached up to their peaks (29.8±2.167)μm and 0.620±0.063 at  8th day. Conclusion: P. acnes biofilm cultured in vitro for 8 days reached the best mature status.
