Abstract: Objective: To assess the clinical effect of oral propranolol combined with local injection of lauryl alcohol in the treatment of infantile hemangioma. Methods: The patients with infantile hemangioma diagnosed in our hospital from 2014 to 2018 were collected. The patients were divided into oral propranolol group and oral propranolol combined with local injection of lauryl alcohol group. Results: Forty three children were collected, of them 21 were treated by oral propranolol and 22 were treated oral propranolol combined with local injection of lauryl alcohol. All the patients were followed up for 12 months. All the tumors treated became smaller and atrophic. The treatment time of combined treatment group and oral propranolol group were (62±24) days and (148±32) days. The cure rate was 95.45% and 61.9%, with a significant difference (Ps<0.05). Of 43 patients, 4 developed low heart rate within 1 hour after oral propranolol, and recovered within 3 hours. The blood glucose was slightly decreased in 35 children (0.2 mmol/L, with no special treatment). Twenty-two cases were treated with additional local injection of lauryl alcohol, of them 7 cases had small amount of bleeding. Conclusion: The treatment course of infantile hemangioma with oral propranolol combined with local injection of lauryl alcohol is shorter than oral propranolol alone.
