Abstract: Objective: To access the efficacy of a modified rhomboid flap in resurfacing the zygomatic or buccal skin and soft tissue defect. Methods: After a dermal lesion had radically been resected, a modified rhomboid flap was designed and taken to resurface the defect. Results: From February 2017 to December 2019, a total of 15 cases, including 9 males and 6 females with the age from 11 to 72, were treated by modified rhomboid flaps. The primary lesions included pigmented nevus in 6 cases, verrucous proliferators in 4, seborrheic keratosis in 3 and Bowen's disease in 2. All the flaps survived and the incision healed by first intension. Twelve patients were followed up for 2-12 months. There was no tumor reoccurred. The color and texture of the flaps were similar to the normal skin without obvious scar hyperplasia. Conclusion: The modified rhomboid flap in resurfacing the zygomatic or buccal skin and soft tissue defect is effective.
