Abstract: Skin infection caused by Burkholderia cepacia and other pathogenic bacteria is very rare in healthy adults. A 78-year-old female was injured on the back of her left hand 5 months ago. Then the lesion started to show erythema, swelling, and nodules. Pathological examination showed infectious granuloma. The metagenomic DNA detection of pathogenic microorganism suggests Burkholderia cepacia and Candida parapsilosis. The patient was treated with oral itraconazole, moxifloxacin hydrochloride, and topical povidone iodine solution. After one month of treatment, the skin lesions were significantly improved.
