The role of antimicrobial peptide LL-37 in dermatology

Abstract: The human anti-microbial peptide LL-37 is an integral part of innate immune and LL-37 has multiple bioactivities. It has been intensively investigated in the field of immunity and inflammation. It is reported that LL-37 is related to the pathophysiology of skin diseases in recent researches. LL-37 may be involved in the pathogenesis of skin diseases by modulating the function of macrophages, neutrophils and immunity. The prognostic and therapeutic values of LL-37 and its derivatives for skin diseases are intriguing and should be further investigated.?The function of LL-37 in the pathogenesis of skin diseases is reviewed in this article.
