Abstract: The factors associated with occurrence and development of keloids include genetics, wound tension, infection, and endocrine. Clinically the effect of single treatment for keloids is unsatisfactory. Nowadays, it has been approved that the combined treatment for keloid is more effective. A combination of surgical resection with irradiation is one of the options. The update of pathogenesis of keloid and combination therapy of surgical resection with irradiation is reviewed in this paper.
