Abstract: Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of Longzhu ointment combined with minocycline hydrochloride capsules for mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Methods: The patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris from March 2018 to April 2019 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and control group. All the patients were treated with oral minocycline hydrochloride capsules and those in the observation group was treated with additional topical Longzhu ointment cream for 4 weeks. The total effective rate, adverse reactions and short-term recurrence rates were calculated. Results: 160 cases were collected, 80 in each group. The total effective rate in the observation group was 94.81%, which was higher than that in control group (72.37%), with a significant difference (P<0.05). 4 weeks after treatment, the recurrence rate in observation group was 36.36%, which was lower than that in control group (71.05%), with a significant difference (P<0.05). 3 patients in the observation group and 4 in control group had the adverse reaction of severe dizziness and the treatment was discontinued, other patients has no obvious adverse reaction. Conclusion: The treatment of Longzhu ointment combined with minocycline hydrochloride capsules for mild to moderate acne vulgaris is more effective than minocycline hydrochloride capsules alone, and has lower recurrences rate.
