Abstract:

Objective: To determine the DNA gene types of Treponema Pallidum in the patients with syphilis in our hospital through multilocus sequence typing (MLST). Methods: Samples were collected from clinical lesions with cotton swabs and TP-DNA was extracted and confirmed by quantitative real-time PCR. The genetypes of TP were detected by MLST. Results: Fifty-five samples were detected and 9 genetypes were identified, including type 1.1.8 in 42 cases, type 3.2.3 in 5, type 1.1.1 in 2, type 24.1.8 in 1, type 25.1.8 in 1, type 1.52.8 in 1, type 1.53.8 in 1, type 1.1.17 in 1, type 25.3.1 in 1. Type 24.1.8, 25.1.8, 1.52.8, 1.53.8, 1.1.17 and 25.3.1 were reported firstly. All types of TP were resistant to macrolides. Conclusion: TP genetypes are variegated in the patients with syphilis in our hospital. The dominant type is 1.1.8, and all types of TP are resistant to macrolide.
