Terbinafine combined with 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy in the treatment of cutaneous Paecilomyces lilacinus infection: a case report

Abstract: A 46 year-old woman presented with a pruritic erythema on the right upper arm for more than a year. The diagnosis of Paecilomyces lilacinus infection was made according to clinical manifestations, culture of the fungus, histological features of the lesions and molecular technique. The patient was sensitive to terbinafine and then treated with terbinafine combined with 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) and the efficacy was good.
