Abstract: Objective: To access the efficacy of intense pulsed light (IPL) in the treatment of foreign body reactions after mesotherapy. Methods: The data of 21 patients with foreign body reactions after mesotherapy who received IPL treatment in our hospital from October 2022 to October 2024 were collected. The efficacy of IPL treatment was evaluated using the Clinical Erythema Assessment (CEA) scale, Physician Global Assessment (PGA), patient satisfaction, and analysis of adverse reactions. Results: Foreign body reactions after mesotherapy were prone to occur in cases with multiple injections (18/21), manual needle injections (16/21), and the use of injection materials that were not Class III medical devices (21/21). At one month of follow-up after IPL treatment, the CEA score decreased from 3.00±0.837 to 1.62±0.921 (P＜0.01); PGA showed an overall improvement rate of 95.2% (20/21), and patient satisfaction was 90.5% (19/21). No adverse reactions or recurrence were observed after treatment. Conclusion: IPL therapy has a positive effect on the resolution of early-stage erythematous lesions and demonstrates good safety.
