Abstract: Objective: To analyze the infection rates and influencing factors of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and syphilis among male premarital check-ups in Guangzhou from 2020 to 2023. Methods: A total of 22 596 men who underwent premarital medical examinations in our hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 were selected as the research subjects. Their basic information, including age, educational level, and sexual behavior history were collected through questionnaire surveys, and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and Treponema pallidum antibodies in their serum were detected. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the related factors. Results: HBV infection rate was 1.50% (340/22 596) and syphilis infection rate was 2.25%(508/22 596) among male premarital check-up population in Guangzhou. Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that hepatitis B vaccination history was a protective factor for HBV infection (P<0.05). However, lower educational attainment (high school/technical secondary school and below), family history of hepatitis B or hepatitis C were risk factors for HBV infection (P<0.05). Lower educational attainment (high school/technical secondary school and below), having anal sex with the same sex, having 2 or more sexual partners, admitting drug use, having a sexually transmitted diseases in the past 1 year, positive HIV antibody, failure to consistently use condoms were the risk factors for syphilis infection (P<0.05). Conclusion: The infection rate of HBV and syphilis among male premarital check-ups in Guangzhou from 2020 to 2023 is high, and HBV and syphilis infection is affected by many factors.
