Abstract: Objective: To compare the efficacy of topical beta-blocker solution and PDL and ND: YAG laser in the treatment of the patients with superficial infantile hemangiomas. Methods: The data of 91 children with superficial infantile hemangiomas treated with topical 0.5% timolol maleate and 85 treated with dual-wavelength PDL and ND: YAG pulse laser of was retrospectively analyzed. Results: The total effective rates in the timolol maleate group and the laser group were 84.6% and 88.2%, with no significant difference (P>0.05). The average treatment time and the time of lesions improvement 76%-100% in the laser group were 2.95±1.30 months and 2.27±1.21 months, which were shorter than that in the timolol maleate group (7.57±3.28 months and 6.57±2.22 months), with significant differences (Ps<0.01). Conclusion: The laser is as?effective?as topical beta-blocker solution for treating infantile superficial hemangioma, but the effect is more quickly and the treatment time is shorter when treated with laser.
