Abstract: The data of 17 cases with adult xanthogranuloma was retrospectively analyzed. There were 10 males and 7 females, with the age at onset from 18 to 66 years old. All the lesions were single papule and on the face in 13 cases, on the limbs in 3 patients and on the scalp in one. No extracutaneous lesions were found. Histopathology showed mild atrophy of the epidermis, infiltration of histiocytes, foam cells, multinuclear giant cell, inflammatory cells and fusiform cells in the dermis. The lesions were removed by surgical excision and there was no recurrence after 6-months follow up. The size of the lesion decreases gradually without treatment in one patient.
