Abstract: Anti melanoma differentiation related gene 5 (MDA5) antibody is a myositis specific antibody found in dermatomyositis (DM). Anti MDA5 antibody is closely related to clinical amyotrophic dermatomyositis (CADM) and rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD), which increases the risk of several characteristic skin manifestations, including gottron syndrome/papule, shawl sign, panniculitis, and reduces the risk of muscle weakness, typical dermatomyositis (CDM) and elevated creatine kinase. Anti MDA5 antibody is closely related to the progression and prognosis of the disease. The update of the correlation between anti MDA5 antibody and DM related clinical manifestations is reviewed in this paper.
