Update of periostin in the mechanism of keloid formation

Abstract: Periostin is an extracellular matrix protein that interacts with cells through various integrins and participates in a variety of pro-fibrotic processes, playing an important role in the normal wound healing process and abnormal scar hyperplasia at the stage of proliferation and remodeling. This paper reviews the basic features and functions of periostin and its relationship with keloid formation.
