Abstract: Exophiala jeanselmei is an opportunistic pathogen that commonly occurs in immunocompromised patients. This report presents a case of Exophiala jeanselmei infection in the right index finger of an immunocompetent individual. The patient, a 59-year-old female, developed a red papule on the skin of her right index finger following trauma three months prior. Histopathological examination revealed a pyogenic granuloma. PAS staining demonstrated beaded hyphal structures within the dermal tissue. Fungal culture identified the pathogen as Exophiala jeanselmei. The diagnosis of cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis due to Exophiala jeanselmei was made. The patient was successfully treated with a combination of itraconazole and surgical excision.
