HIV detection analysis in patients with skin and venereal disease in Shantou from 2012 to 2015

Abstract: Objective:To investigate the HIV infection status in recent years in Shantou City. Methods: HIV serological testing was performed in 13571 patients from January 2012 to December 2015, including all the outpatients of Dermatovenereology Department and inpatients of Department of Dermatology in Dermato-venereological Hospital of Shantou City. The testing results and clinical data were analyzed using statistical method. Results: Among the 13571 patients received HIV serological testing, 106 patients were positive for the HIV prescreening. Western blot was carried out in 83 of 106 HIV-positive patients, and the result confirmed all 83 HIV-positive patients. HIV infection rate was 0.1928% (5/2593), 0.2726% (8/2935), 0.9890%(35/3539) and 0.7771%(35/4504) from 2012 to 2015, respectively. Among the 83 comfirmed HIV-positive patients, 74 were male and 9 were female. The number of male HIV infected patients was 8.22-fold than that of female counterparts. The infection rate in male patients was 3.58-fold than that of the female counterparts. Conclusion: HIV infection was significantly increased in outpatients of Dermatovenereology Department and inpatients of Department of Dermatology in Shantou City in recent years, especially in male patients.
