Abstract: A 66-year-old male patient presented with a soybean-sized plaque on his right wrist for 2 years, which gradually enlarged without obvious symptoms such as itching or pain. It was once misdiagnosed as keloid. After visiting our hospital, fungal culture showed the growth of dark filamentous colonies. Through sequencing analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of ribosomal DNA (rDNA), it was identified as Cladophialophora carrionii. The patient was given itraconazole 200 mg once daily, and the plaque basically subsided after 6 months of treatment.
