Abstract: A 24-year-old female presented with nodules on the dorsum of her left hand for more than 2 months. Bacterial culture performed at an outside hospital was negative, and she was diagnosed with “verruca” and received cryotherapy, but the skin lesions gradually worsened. She was subsequently admitted to our hospital. Dermatological examination showed three dark red nodules on the dorsum of the left hand, ranging in size from broad bean to pigeon egg, soft in texture, normal skin temperature, and mild tenderness. Bacterial culture in another hospital was negative. Next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS) of skin tissue in our hospital indicated Mycobacterium marinum infection. The patient was treated with rifampicin and moxifloxacin for 2 months, and the condition improved significantly compared with before.
