5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy for diffuse actinic keratosis of the scalp: a case report

Abstract: The treatment for actinic keratosis include cryotherapy, laser and microwave therapy, topical application of fluorouracil cream, etc. Photodynamic therapy is a more effective therapy for large area lesions. Herein, we report a 76-year-old female with solar keratosis with large scalp lesions was treated with 5-amino-ketovaleric acid photodynamic therapy for 6 times, the lesions basically subsided, supplemented with local cryotherapy for 2 times, and no recurrence was reported after 9 months follow-up.
