Application of photodynamic therapy in actinic cheilitis

Abstract: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been widely used in the treatment of actinic keratosis (AK). The application of PDT in the treatment of oral diseases, especially actinic cheilitis (AC) has been used. Based on different photosensitizers being used, PDT can be divided into aminolevulinic acid-based photodynamic therapy and methylaminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy . According to different regimen,PDT can be divided into traditional photodynamic therapyutilizied with LED light, daylight photodynamic therapy and 5-aminolevulinic acid patch photodynamic therapy with improved dressing method. The efficacy and safety of different PDT regimens in the treatment of AC was reviewed in this paper.
