Analysis of 35 newly registered leprosy cases in Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan province, 2018

Abstract: Thirty-five new leprosy patients were diagnosed in Wenshan in 2018, giving a detection rate of 0.96/100,000. The 35 new cases were scattered in 28 townships of 8 counties. The average age was 31.23±4.37 years. Children aged from less than 1 year to 14 years and accounted for 5.71%. 74.29% patients belonged to multi-bacillary type. There were 5.71% patients with grade II deformity. The average time of delayed diagnosis was 14.14±4.68 months. The source of infection was clear in 68.57% of the patients. The main method of detection was passive. Eighteen patients (51.43%) were diagnosed in spring season.
