Epidemiological analysis of leprosy new cases in Shaanxi Province from 2011 to 2020

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of leprosy new cases in Shaanxi Province from 2011 to 2020, so as to provide reference for leprosy prevention and control. Methods: The data of leprosy new cases from 2011 to 2020 in Shaanxi Province from LEPMIS and population data from Shaanxi Provincial Statistical Yearbook were analyzed by descriptive epidemiological method. Results: From 2011 to 2020, the detection rate and prevalence of leprosy in Shaanxi Province showed a downward trend and kept at a low level. The early detection rate was 35.82%, the average delay period was 55.4 months, and the grade 2 deformity rate was 37.59%. The main method of case detection was outpatient visit, accounting for 60.45%. Conclusion: From 2011 to 2020, the incidence of leprosy decrease in Shaanxi Province, but the average delay period of diagnosis of new lepers is long, and the ratio of grade 2 deformity is high. It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control work.
