Abstract: Objective: Studies have reported that the incidence of ulcerative colitis in patients with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis is significantly higher than that in normals. To determine the association between psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis patients and ulcerative colitis is the purpose of this article. Methods:The studies of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and ulcerative colitis in Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Embase , CNKI and Wanfang were searched and meta-analysis by Review Manager 5.3 software was performed. Results: A total of 13 articles, including 3 cross-sectional studies, 2 case-control studies and 4 cohort studies with 723 402 psoriasis patients and 37 059 psoriatic arthritis patients were analyzed. The results revealed that there was a correlation between psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis and ulcerative colitis [RR=1.65 (95% CI 1.55-1.76), OR=1.76 (95% CI 1.43-2.17)], [RR=2.14 (95% CI 1.72-2.66), OR=2.05(95% CI 1.50-2.80)]. Conclusion: Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis may increase the incidence of ulcerative colitis.
