Neurosyphilis presenting with oculomotor nerve palsy: 4 cases report

Abstract: The clinical data of 4 cases of neurosyphilis diagnosed and treated in our department with oculomotor nerve palsy as the first symptom were retrospectively analyzed, and the related literature were reviewed. All four patients were male, aged from 48 to 69 years old, and presented with oculomotor nerve palsy as the first symptom of neurosyphilis. For treatment, 4 million U of penicillin sodium was given every 4 hours for 14 consecutive days, and 2.4 million U of benzathine penicillin was injected intramuscularly once a week for 3 times. The patients were followed up for 6 months to 3 years, and the eye symptoms disappeared in all 4 patients.
