Abstract: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a systemic disease, and active AD is associated with many systemic diseases, including metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. In recent years, the relationship between AD and metabolic syndrome (MetS) has been studied abroad, and it has been reported that AD may be associated with MetS, which increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, due to many conflicting reports on the relationship between AD and MetS, the relationship has not been fully elucidated so far, and it is unclear whether AD is a risk factor for MetS and its components (hypertension, diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia). In this paper, the update of the relationship between atopic dermatitis and metabolic syndrome and its components is reviewed.
