Omalizumab in the treatment of childhood solar urticaria: a case report and literature review

Abstract: The traditional treatment of solar urticaria mainly includes antihistamines, photosclerosis, leukotriene receptor antagonists, but many patients do not respond well to the traditional treatment. Some article have been reported that omazumab was effective in the treatment of children with solar urticaria. Herein, we report a  3-year-old child with solar urticaria treated with omalizumab, and review the related literature. The patient presented with erythema and wheal all over his body with pruritus after sun exposure for 1 year and was given 150mg omalizumab, then the lesions subsided. At a follow-up of 22 months, the patient was remained on omazumab treatment and the rash did not recur.
