Abstract: Three female patients with bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (BSLE) were reported in this article. All patients presented with generalized erythema and blisters all over the body. Histopathological examination showed subepidermal blisters with inflammatory cell infiltration in the dermis. Direct immunofluorescence revealed linear or granular deposition of IgG, IgM and/or IgA together with complement C3 along the basement membrane zone in two cases. All patients were treated with glucocorticoids combined with hydroxychloroquine, and effective disease control was achieved. Previous literature was also analyzed to summarize the clinical manifestations and immunological features of patients with BSLE.
