Abstract: Objective: To investigate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) in psoriasis patient in our hospital in Xinjiang. Methods: The height, weight, blood pressure, fasting glucose (FPG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), serum calcium, phosphorus and potassium ions of 289 patients and 280 controls (patients with herpes zoster) were analyzed. Results: The prevalence rates of MS in psoriastic patients and controls were 35.29% and 19.64%, with a significant difference (P<0.05). The levels of BMI, TG and phosphorus was (36.47±10.32), (1.52±0.87) mmol/L and (1.24±0.27)mmol/L, which were higher than those in controls (24.25±4.20 mmol/L, 1.22±0.67mmol/L and 1.09±0.27 mmol/L). The levels of FPG and HDL-C were (4.98±2.33) mmol/L and (1.12±0.36)mmol/L, which were lower than those in controls (6.24±2.83mmol/L and 1.28±0.35mmol/L). Conclusions: Patients with psoriasis are susceptibility to MS.
